The Schmidt Trail is a mountain path that connects the Puerto de Navacerrada with the Peñalara Royal Spanish Mountaineering Society Lodge. It was marked by Eduardo Schmidt in 1926. ( Schmid of German origin, although many say he was Austrian or Swiss, the Foreign mountaineer who settled in Spain is a character with a lot of mystery).
