Bola del Mundo from Puerto de Navacerrada

Bola del Mundo is the summit with the big white spheres. You can see them from half the sierra. The usual walk starts at Puerto de Navacerrada and goes up the wide track on the ski-station side. Steep in places, but straightforward when the ground is clear.

It's popular for a reason. You get a real summit feeling without a long approach, and the views open up as soon as you gain a bit of height. Expect company on sunny weekends.

The walk

From the parking area, follow the service track uphill (white and yellow marks). Keep grinding. The last bit to the antennas is the steepest. Take your photos, then come back the same way.

Wind on top is normal. If the cloud drops, stay on the main track. Don't cut across closed ski terrain.

Getting there

Bus 691 from Moncloa. Or train to Cercedilla and the C-9 up to the pass when it's running. By car, A-6 then M-601. Parking goes early when the weather is nice.

What to pack

Grip shoes, water, a windproof, sun cream, something to eat. In winter the same route can mean snow and ice, so poles and traction aren't overkill.

Go early if you can. Quieter path, easier parking, better light. Just a route note so you know what you're signing up for.
