Low temperature than Madrid and complete trail is under the shade of pine trees. The Schmidt Trail is a mountain path that connects the Puerto de Navacerrada with the Peñalara Royal Spanish Mountaineering Society Lodge. It was marked by Eduardo Schmidt in 1926. ( Schmid of German origin, although many say he was Austrian or Swiss, the Foreign mountaineer who settled in Spain is a character with a lot of mystery). The official name of this trail is PR-M-5, and it goes between the Scots pine forests of Valsaín, on the north slope, and Cercedilla on the south.

Difficulty: Medium Level. but you must be physically fit for Hiking in the Mountain.

Hike Type: Loop

Maximum altitude 1.861 m.

Minimum altitude 1,598 m.

Elevation change: 316m.

Leaving Madrid: 09:00am

Total hike: 13km. Steps aprox: 22000

Coming back same day: We will take the bus from puerto de navacerrada at 16:30 or 17:30pm.

By public transport (BUS): We are meeting at underground Moncola Bus Station. find us at Isla 2, Dársena 21, BUS 691 at 08:45AM for the 09:00AM departure.

Please bring change or a 5€ or 10€ bill for the bus driver. 10.20€ round trip on the bus. The bus is free if you have the abono joven and reduced if you have an abono for outside the center!

BY CAR: You can drive by car and meet us at puerto de navacerrada at 10:15am Aprox at Restaurante Dos Castillos.

It is necessary to bring hiking shoes, Comfy clothes, extra layer in the back pack. warm jacket, winter cap and gloves. Your lunch, Snacks and 1.5L water (minimum).

in case of Rain we are not going to cancel this event. please bring rainy jacket or a small umbrella.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Cost / Charges: The Charges are only 10€. pay online. in case you paid and later you are not able to join the hike, you are NOT losing your payment, just let me know by whatsapp and then you can use this reservation for any future hike. The Price (10€) includes only Hike guide, everyone must pay by own public transport charges, which are mention above. if you want insurance, It is possible to arrange a personalized accident insurance for only 5€ providing name, surname and ID/Passport Number.

4. All our events are accessible by Madrid Public Transport. We do not offer any type of Travel or Accident insurance.
